EMPLOYEE PHILANTHROPY

Wachovia’s community commitment simply would not be possible without the work of Wachovia employees.

WachoviaVolunteers!SM

WachoviaVolunteers! is our internal network of local chapters that support and enhance volunteer initiatives. Chapters focus on areas of interest such as education, donating blood, health and human services fundraising events (walk-a-thons, races, etc.), and other local grassroots volunteer efforts.

WE Give

The WE Give (Wachovia Employees Give) employee philanthropy program includes:

  • Volunteer Service Grants
The Employee Volunteer Grants Program offers a financial incentive for employees to volunteer with non-profit organizations. For each 24 hours an employee volunteers for a single 501(c)(3) organization during a calendar year, the employee can apply for a $100 grant to be presented to that organization from The Wachovia Foundation. Each employee may have up to two grants approved during the calendar year.  The organization is required to verify the hours served.

  • Matching Gifts
Wachovia matches dollar for dollar employees’ gifts of $25 or more to eligible non-profit educational institutions and other non-profit organizations up to a maximum of $4,000 during a calendar year per individual donor. Of the $4,000 annual limit, a maximum of $1,000 per year may be matched to eligible non-profit organizations, provided they are governmental entities or agencies that have a charitable purpose or are exempt from tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Education Programs

Wachovia’s education programs encourage employees to volunteer in local schools and organizations as tutors, mentors, readers, speakers, lunch buddies and room parents.  More information is available on these programs on the Improving Education page.

Time Away From Work for Community Service

Our Time Away From Work for Community Service policy enables Wachovia employees to take up to four hours of paid time each month—or six days each year—to volunteer in their communities.
