Time Away from Work
In addition to paid time off for holidays, jury duty, Short-Term Disability, and Paid Time Off (PTO) for use as you choose, we offer:
- Up to 10 Family Care Time (FCT) paid days/ per year for the birth or acceptance of a foster child, or to care for a family member who needs medical attention or preventive care.
- Up to 20 Adoption Leave days, when coupled with 10 Family Care Time days, for the adoption of a child.
- Up to four paid hours per month to participate in community service volunteerism, educational volunteerism, and parental involvement in education.
- Up to three paid days per occurrence for bereavement for a close family member.
Also, our Family and Medical Leave allows you up to 16 weeks of unpaid leave with a job guarantee provided all other eligibility requirements are met.
Flexible Work Options
Options (with management approval) include:
- Flexible work day start and stop times
- Remote work sites/telecommuting
- Scheduling 40-hour work weeks in less than five days
- Regular part-time hours
- Job sharing
- Phase-in after leaves of absence
LifeWorks™ Family Resource Program
Through this comprehensive telephone service and seminar series, you can get help with finding child care, finding elder care, parenting, adoption, children’s school needs, planning for college, options after high school, caring for people with disabilities, and managing your own life.

Employee Assistance Program
A confidential service that provides professional assessment, referral, and access to counseling services to help you and your eligible dependents with family or marital concerns, workplace problems, drug or alcohol abuse, and stress, depression, or other emotional problems.
Transportation Spending Accounts
When you make tax-free contributions to Parking or Mass Transit/Vanpool spending accounts, you can be reimbursed for eligible commuting expenses incurred in coming to work.
Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account
When you make tax-free contributions to this account, you can be reimbursed for child day care or elder day care expenses necessary to enable you to work.
On-Site Child Care Centers
We offer high quality, on-site child care for benefits-eligible employees in Charlotte, North Carolina; Roanoke, Virginia; and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Mothers’ Rooms
In some locations, private rooms are available for nursing mothers.
Natural Disaster Relief
In the event of a natural or manmade disaster that severely impacts or closes business locations or units, an emergency center is staffed around the clock to assist you. In addition, the Disaster Relief Fund makes special loans available if you suffer a disaster-related personal loss, or hardship.
