Single-Family Housing

Wachovia is a leader in affordable mortgage lending and works to provide innovative, creative, and flexible solutions for community development. Each week, we help 475 lower-income families realize the dream of home ownership through:

• 100% financing, down payment assistance, waived private mortgage insurance requirements, and higher debt-to-income ratios
• Products designed specifically for first-time homebuyers, teachers, police and fire officers, and borrowers with minor credit issues
• A network of 180 Community Mortgage Partners who provide home ownership counseling to potential borrowers

In addition, the Wachovia Community Development Finance Group supports single-family housing by financing residential homebuilders who are focused on increasing the availability of affordable homes in targeted lower-income areas.

Multi-Family Housing

Wachovia’s Community Development Finance Group also promotes affordable housing by financing multi-family housing developments. The group uses government programs to make developments affordable and successful, and works to provide equity through the Low-Income Tax Credit programs. To date, Wachovia has invested more than $2.5 billion in low-income housing tax credits, which has created over 55,000 multi-family housing units.
