Environmental Principles and Commitments

Wachovia's environmental principles and commitments were developed through partnership and dialogue with community organizations, customers, investor groups and environmental consultants. Wachovia is committed to ensuring that our principles and commitments are integrated in the work we do every day.

Wachovia developed a set of Environmental Principles to guide our business. These principles illustrate the thoughtful approach we take with our own operations and our business activities to ensure protection of our ecosystems and natural resources.

Comprehensive commitments in the areas of Forest Protection and Climate Change address our own operations as well as our business transactions with commercial and corporate clients that may have an impact on the world's forests and climates.

Wachovia is a recent signatory to the Equator Principles, a voluntary initiative developed by the World Bank Group's International Finance Corporation (IFC). By adopting the Equator Principles, financial institutions commit to apply the principles to global project financing to mitigate social and environmental risk factors.
