Manage: Take Control. Monitor and modify your plan to keep it on course
Keep Your Asset Allocation on Course
Once you've identified your model portfolio and made your investment choices, it would be nice if you could just sit back and watch your retirement money grow. But the economy and financial markets are dynamic — they're constantly changing. So over time, your asset allocation can shift. Even the most stable portfolio may gradually stray from the asset allocation for your model portfolio. And that could affect your chances of meeting your savings goals.
To stay true to your investment strategy, you need to keep a close eye on your investments. From time to time, you may have to modify your allocations. That means decreasing some types of holdings or increasing others.
In addition, as you move closer to retirement, you may want to shift your portfolio's allocation to a more conservative mix.
